Warwickshire's Wright fractures back

Warwickshire and England Lions bowler Chris Wright has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a stress fracture in his back.

The 27-year-old pulled up in the Bears' Championship match at Middlesex and was unable to bowl in the second innings.

After a scan last week revealed the extent of the injury, Wright now faces a six-month rehabilitation process.

2011 - 22 wickets in four Championship games 2012 - 67 wickets in 16 first-class games 2013 - 19 wickets in eight first-class games "Will miss [the season] due to a stress fracture but will return stronger and better," he said on Twitter.

Fast bowler Wright joined Warwickshire from Essex, initially on loan, in 2011, and was the Bears' leading first-class wicket-taker last season with 67 as his side were crowned county champions for the first time since 2004.

His early season form this summer earned him a four-year deal at Edgbaston and a call-up to the England Lions squad to face New Zealand in May.

However, his season has now been curtailed, having taken 27 wickets from 16 domestic games.
